PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are looking for a man they say kidnapped and held a woman at knifepoint at a Wawa in Bucks County.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by our partners at NBC10, it happened shortly before midnight on April 19.

Police say a woman met 46-year-old Richard Phillips outside the Wawa on Bristol Pike and got inside his 2014 white Chevy Silverado.

Investigators say that’s when the man began acting aggressively toward her, putting her in a headlock.

In an attempt to escape, she told Phillips she needed to use the bathroom and started walking toward the store.

Phillips then followed her, grabbed her before she got in the Wawa, and pulled her back toward the car while telling her he had a knife and would kill her if she didn’t get back inside the car.

She got back in the car and Phillips drove her to his friend’s house on Mulberry Street. He then took the woman’s keys and cellphone and told his friend to get her car from the Wawa.

When the friend came back, the woman begged Phillips to let her leave but he refused.

She then pushed Phillips, ran out of the house and hid behind a nearby church for almost an hour before going back to the friend’s house and asking for her belongings.

Officials say she got her stuff back and escaped again. She reported the incident just after 6 a.m. on April 20.

Phillips is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.

Police ask if you have any information on Phillips or this incident to contact them at 215-785-4040.
