Three people have been hurt after a woman was "deliberating running into people with a car" in Philadelphia . The alarm was raised shortly before 2pm on Monday when police received reports of an incident in Northeast Philly.

Emergency services rushed to the parking lot of a ShopRite grocery store at Oxford Avenue and Levick Street.

It is understood a 46-year-old woman was intentionally targeting people with her vehicle , a silver 2015 Nissan Sentra, at the scene. Five people were struck and taken to hospital but only suffered cuts and bruises.

The woman was taken into custody while a car with front-end damage could be seen parked in front of the store. The extent of the people's injuries are not yet known, nor are their genders, names, or ages.

It is also unclear whether anyone has yet been charged in the investigation .
