Former Tigerette earns All-SCAC recognition
Former Goliad High School standout Brooke Yanta earned honorable mention on the 2024 All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball team released recently. Yanta, a senior infielder, played in 42 of the Pirates’ 44 games and batted .271 with three home runs, 22 RBIs, and a pair of stolen bases this season.

Three Rivers High School graduate Ashley Lopez captured first place in the 105-pound weight class at the USA Powerlifting 2024 Star City Showdown in Lincoln, Neb., on May 11. Lopez, a sophomore on the Midland University powerlifting team, had lifts of 303 pounds in the squat, 143 in the bench press, and 303 in the deadlift for a composite of 749 pounds.
