Ohio University football alumnus Vonnie Watkins has signed with the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Watkins (Lusby, Md.) played in all 13 games for the Bobcats in 2023, starting in nine. He led the team in quarterback hurries (11) and forced fumbles (2) and was second in sacks (5). Additionally, Watkins recorded 33 total tackles on the season— including 15 solo stops— and eight tackles for loss.

Paint Valley's Bell, Chambers commit to play football at Wittenberg
Paint Valley seniors Peyton Bell and Dom Chambers recently held a joint signing, with both student-athletes committing to play collegiate football at Wittenberg University. Bell, an offensive lineman, was named to the second-team All-Ohio list for offense his senior year, while also being named Southeast District Lineman of the Year, both by members of the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. The Scioto Valley Conference selected him as SVC Lineman of the Year.
Wildcats shut out Hillsboro
The Whiteoak Wildcats defeated the Hillsboro Indians in non-conference baseball action by a 3-0 score on Wednesday, May 8 at Whiteoak High School. The Wildcats gained the win with one run scored in each of the first three innings played, totaling two hits in the win and committing two errors. Hillsboro totaled six hits and no errors.

After a string of four wins, Piketon's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Fairfield Union Falcons by a score of 3-2. For Fairfield Union's part, Kyle Wolfe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.
