Colorado has one of the best farmers markets in the country

DENVER ( KDVR ) — There are dozens of farmers markets in Colorado, but only one has been honored as one of the 10 best markets nationwide, according to USA Today experts and readers.

Palisade Sunday Farmers Market is located in downtown Palisade, which is a small Western Slope town known for peach orchards and vineyards.

It was named the seventh-best farmers market in the U.S. in a poll conducted by USA Today. Experts with the publication first nominated several markets, after which readers were able to vote on their favorites.

The following are the top 10 best farmers markets, according to USA Today:

2. West Palm Beach GreenMarket in West Palm Beach, Florida
3. Kaka’ako Farmers Market in Honolulu, Hawaii
4. Maple Valley Farmers Market in Maple Valley, Washington
5. Ann Arbor Farmers Market in Ann Arbor, Michigan
6. St. Johns Farmers Market in Portland, Oregon
7. Palisade Sunday Farmers Market in Palisade, Colorado
8. Pearl Farmers Market in San Antonio, Texas
9. Root’s Country Market & Auction in Manheim, Pennsylvania
10. Little Italy Mercato Farmers Market in San Diego, California

The farmers market in Palisade features live music and other local vendors, in addition to fresh produce.

Even though the weather is getting warmer, you’ll have to wait a bit to pick up some fresh fruits in Palisade, as the market doesn’t open until June 2. After that, it will open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Oct. 6.
