Scammers target Orland Park bakery holding National Donut Day contest
ORLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- It's National Donut Day!But one suburban bakery's attempt at celebrating got spammed by scammers.Orland Park Bakery, located at 14850 South La Grange Road, shared a sweet offer in honor of National Donut Day they're giving away a giant donut-shaped cake.All participants have to do was like comment and share the picture to be put in a raffle to win.But then scammers arrived in the comments trying to trick people into thinking they won - and seeking contestant's information.The bakery is now trying to get the fake profiles banned and reminding their customers they wouldn't ask anyone to click any links or for their information for a giveaway.A winner will still be announced today.

Mother Arrested on DUI charges, Violently Abusing 5-Month-Old Baby Boy in Joliet
JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman is facing charges of child abuse after allegedly inflicting serious injuries on her 5-month-old baby boy. According to Joliet Police, Taylor Harmon, 25, was allegedly witnessed slamming her infant into a car seat around 10:30 p.m. Thursday before violently shaking the carrier. Reports indicate the child suffered severe head trauma later visible to officers and was taken to St. Joe’s Hospital before being transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Teen shot during apparent drug deal in Bolingbrook
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in southwest suburban Bolingbrook are asking people in part of the village to shelter in place, as officers search for two suspects after a 17-year-old girl was shot, apparently during a drug deal.Police said officers were on the scene Friday afternoon, after a 17-year-old girl was shot near Lexington Drive and Lee Lane. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her condition was not immediately available.Two suspects fled the scene after the shooting, and police were asking people in the area to shelter in place while they conduct a search.Police said it is believed the shooting was the result of a prearranged drug deal, and was not random.Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Bolingbrook police at 630-226-8620. Joliet Man Arrested in Connection to 2020 Murder
A 20-year-old Joliet man has been arrested in connection to a 2020 murder. Christopher Garcia has been charged with three counts of first degree murder. It was on September 27, 2020 that officers responded to the 400 block of South Raynor Avenue for a report of someone shot. Officers located Tre Stanley who had suffered a gunshot to the head. He was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago where Stanley was pronounced deceased on October 3, 2020.
