NFA paid 439 employees $25.52 million in fiscal 2026

From FY 2025 to FY 2026, 17 more Norwich Free Academy employees are making over $100,000. Between FY 2025 and FY 2026, NFA saw a roughly $570,000 increase in total employee salaries. In FY 2026, 439 employees took home $25.52 million. In FY 2025, 424 employees took home $24.95 million, and in FY 2024, 436 employees took home $24.59 million. On average, NFA employees took home $58,132.11 in FY 2026, $57,995.28 in FY 2025, and $56,399.08 in FY 2024. In FY 2026, 95 employees made $100,000 or more. Norwich marks Diwali with first City Hall celebration

Norwich held its first official Diwali recognition ceremony at City Hall on Nov. 5, celebrating the city's Indian and South Asian communities. The Diwali ceremony was hosted by Mayor Swarnjit Singh and held in Singh's office. Afterward, a proclamation was read in City Council Chambers to recognize Diwali, then guests walked to the Royal Punjabi for tea and Indian foods, such as samosas and jalebi, which is a South Asian sweet made by piping a wheat flour batter into spiral or circular shapes, deep-frying it until crisp, and soaking it in warm sugar syrup The ceremony included prayer and the traditional lighting of diyas, or lamps, symbolizing light, hope, peace and prosperity. Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by millions of people around the world. The holiday symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness and highlights values including peace, prosperity, family, gratitude and unity. Norwich issues its first Diwali proclamation Singh and City Council President Pro Tem Joseph A. DeLucia issued a city proclamation recognizing Nov. 8 as "Diwali – Festival of Lights Day." Norwich-area incumbents prevail as Connecticut results come in

Even though not every town has reported their results yet, incumbents have generally won Norwich-representing offices. This means Cathy Osten (D) has defeated Jason Guidone (R) for the 19 th State Senate District seat, Derell Wilson (D) has defeated Marcia Wilbur (R) for the 46 th State Rep. District seat, Doug Dubitsky (R) has defeated Marcus Palumbo (D) for the 47 th State Rep. District seat, and Larry Pemberton (D) has defeated Brandon Sabbag (R) and Mark Adams (IP) for the 139 th State Rep. District seat. As of 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, Griswold, Groton, Voluntown, Waterford and Westbrook have yet to report their results to the state, which affects the U.S. Rep. CT-2 race between Joe Courtney (D) George Austin (R). However, Courtney has already declared victory. Courtney will “hit the ground running” to prioritize cost of living, remove tariffs and healthcare cuts, and support submarine building, according to a statement on his campaign Facebook page.
