On Tuesday, April 16, officers responded to a business near North Rockwell Avenue and Northwest 10th Street.

Officers spoke with Treva Morgan, 66, who told police her husband had been injured as she was backing out of the parking space.

Morgan told police she and her husband had been arguing in the vehicle, when he requested to be let out of the car so he could walk to work. She pulled into a nearby business, according to police, and he exited the vehicle.

Morgan said that her husband had opened the rear passenger door to grab a basket. Morgan claims she told her husband to get back in the vehicle, but he refused. Morgan said she thought he was clear of the door, so she put the car in reverse and backed out of the space.

Police say the open door forced the victim to be knocked to the ground as Morgan was driving. Morgan stopped driving when she realized she could not see her husband in her mirrors.

Morgan called 911 after seeing her husband injured on the ground. He was transported to OU Medical Center. The victim was pronounced dead 10 days later after being removed from life support.

A warrant has been issued for Morgan’s arrest, she is accused of negligent homicide and reckless driving.
