The Under-The-Radar Delaware Deli Where Locals Go Out Of Their Way For Overstuffed Italian Roast Beef Sandwiches

The roast beef here cooks slowly overnight in its own gravy, then gets carved by hand for each order. I’m convinced that’s the kind of effort a sandwich deserves. To me, the toppings seal the deal. Sharp provolone, sauteed broccoli rabe, and homemade long hots get made fresh every morning.

We Ate Wings All Over Delaware And This Newark Sports Bar Came Out On Top

A replica of the world’s first steam-powered amphibious vehicle hangs inside a wing spot. Yes, a car-boat from 1805, right above the people dunking boneless bites in sauce. The wing list backs up the weird decor. Sauces run from Sriracha Honey to Old Bay to Thai Sweet Chili. The...

12 Delaware Buffets Where You Can Eat Well For Less Than $30

One buffet in Delaware greets you with a koi pond before you even pick up a plate. Another lets you build your own hibachi entree and hand it to the grill. I love that a budget meal can come with that much showmanship. A few of these spots stack sushi, crab legs, and hot pot under one roof.

A sausage sandwich shop in this state fires up its grill at 4 in the morning, six days a week. Another spot on my list has been feeding its neighborhood since 1922. I love that kind of staying power. Delaware is small, but its menus punch way above their weight....

The Best Restaurants in South Jersey, Picked by Locals

Hungry? You’re in the right place. South Jersey has a better food scene than most people realize. We have BYOBs with pasta made by hand that morning, taverns older than the country, and diners that still bake their own cheesecake. We also have strong opinions about pork roll and about where to find a cheesesteak. That’d be on a round poppy seed roll in the city of Camden.

The Cheesesteak at This Unassuming Pennsylvania Sandwich Shop Comes on Rolls Baked Fresh Every Morning

Ordering a cheesesteak at this Pennsylvania corner counter involves two windows, a glowing screen, and a loudspeaker that calls your name. That is a lot of ceremony for a sandwich, and somehow it works. The meat gets chopped fine and folded right into the melting cheese. It lands on a...

BizBeat: Haiden's Coffee & Cafe is bigger and better; Night Owl Bar & Grill opens in Rising Sun

News from and about Cecil County’s business community: Haiden’s Coffee & Cafe is even busier now that it has doubled in size and increased its seating options for customers. Jennifer Granger, owner of the business at 1610 West Pulaski Highway in Elkton, said she needed more seating and added the more than 1500-square-foot addition. Now customers can sit in a window-filled cafe. “We wanted a space where people could sit and visit,” she said. She even has seating on a patio to the rear of the addition. Granger said the Haiden Cold Foam Coffee remains a customer favorite, as do the cinnamon rolls, and their Original Breakfast Sandwich. “We make our own bagels and sourdough bread,” she said. Haiden’s may also be the only restaurant in Cecil County offering pulla. “That’s a Finnish cardamon bread,” Granger said of the popular item baked in house. Haiden’s Coffee & Cafe is open Monday through Friday 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and 6:30 until 4 on Saturdays. Go to https://www.haidenscoffee.com/ to learn how to order ahead of your arrival, order to go or set up a DoorDash delivery. ••• The Maryland Board of Public Works approved the issuance of a $2,650,000 general obligation

10 Delaware Chili Spots Worth Seeking Out When You Need Something Warm And Hearty

Back in the 1860s, a group of women in San Antonio sold chili from open-air stalls in public plazas. People called them the Chili Queens, and they served bowls from dusk until dawn. I love that detail. Chili started as late-night street food, sold under the sky to anyone hungry...
