Laconia Spartans' softball team finishes as state runner-up
The Laconia High School Spartans’ softball team found itself in a familiar position in the WIAA Division 3 State Championship game last week Saturday afternoon. Much like a day earlier, in which it upset the No. 1 seed and previously undefeated Mishicot Indians 3-2 to advance to the title game, No. 4-seeded Laconia trailed the No. 3-seed Prescott Cardinals entering the top of the seventh inning.
Rotary Club boosts diverse-themed books at Fond du Lac elementary schools, and more news in brief
FOND DU LAC – For the past five years, the Fond du Lac Morning Rotary Club has provided books to classrooms in Fond du Lac School District’s elementary schools. The project is part of an initiative to provide books that help kids view those who appear different from them through a new lens.

I got the chance to explore some moments of Ripon's history with the help of Ripon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy Kimes and the Ripon Historical Society.
Ripon Middle School track and field teams compete at state
The Middle School State Track Meet was held Saturday May 18 in Waupun. Ripon had several athletes qualify to compete in the Middle School State Track Meet. To qualify, athletes needed to be in the top of their event and grade level. The top-15 qualified for field events; top-20 made it for relay teams; and the top-10 7th-graders and top-20 8th-graders advanced in running events.
