    Man sentenced to federal prison on conspiracy charge

    CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A North Charleston man will spend five years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy-related charges.

    Omar Sexton, 43, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.

    According to evidence, a K-9 in Louisville, Kentucky, found a package in the mail center containing one kilogram of cocaine, mushrooms, and marijuana.

    That package was shipped from Los Angeles and sent to a home in North Charleston, set to arrive on June 19, 2023. After reviewing surveillance footage, authorities saw Seton had the package sent off.

    DMV records showed Sexton lived at the address in North Charleston where the package was sent. Detectives then checked airline records and learned Sexton had traveled back and forth from Los Angeles to Charleston numerous times in the summer of 2023.

    Homeland Security Investigations investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Holmes is prosecuting the case.
