Search of Vandergrift home results in 2 arrests, police say narcotics recovered
A pair of Vandergrift residents face several drug charges after borough police and Westmoreland County detectives raided their Delaware Avenue home early Thursday. Kaeona Booker, 26, and Eugene Iagnemma, 54, were taken into custody after law enforcement executed a search warrant and seized “several items related to drug activity,” according to the police report.

Police arrest New Kensington woman who crashed car while fleeing with child
A woman crashed her car into a house while fleeing from police early Thursday in New Kensington, police said in a criminal complaint. Her young son was in the back seat of the car, which caught fire after the crash. The boy, whose age was not given, suffered a bloody nose and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with minor injuries, police said.

A man was arrested when, police say, he tried to mail about 2 pounds of cocaine to California from the New Kensington post office. Jonathan Ray Booher, 33, was arraigned Friday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on charges filed by the Office of Attorney General of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal attempt to delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Allegheny County Sheriff's office announces arrest of man wanted after 9 months on the run
NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) - Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus announced on Thursday morning that a man who had been on the run for nearly nine months has been taken into custody. According to the sheriff's office, 25-year-old Donte Robinson-Veranon has been on the run since August 2023 when he failed to appear in court for a probation violation connected to cases that involved theft and firearms violations. Detectives learned that he was located at an apartment in North Versailles. On Thursday, detectives went to the apartment and Robinson-Veranon attempted to flee out of the back window but ultimately failed, returning to the apartment. He was taken into custody without incident. A search of the apartment found a firearm inside a laundry basket inside of a child's room. When detectives checked the firearm, they learned it had been stolen. Robinson-Veranon was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and now along with the charges included in the bench warrant, he is now facing new charges of receiving stolen property and two more firearm violations.

The Delmont Police Department will once again have a K-9 unit, after introducing a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois named Dirk at the borough council’s meeting Tuesday night. In addition to about $60,000 in funding through Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward’s office, Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli also presented Delmont police with a $6,000 check to aid in the dog’s training, garnered from drug forfeiture funding.
