Muscatine crew rescues kitten from storm drain
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KCRG) - A kitten trapped 20 feet below the surface was successfully rescued by crews on Thursday. Officials say a citizen walking by the HNI Manufacturing plan on East 5th Street heard the cries from the kitten and notified Muscatine Police. Staff from Muscatine Sewer Dept. responded to the call and found the kitten on the elbow of a storm drain 20 feet below the surface.

Iowa City coffee shop Tru Coffee closes doors
After three years in downtown Iowa City, Tru Coffee has closed its doors as of June 1. According to a Tuesday evening Instagram post from owner Haley Kesterson, the coffee shop’s time at 287 N. Linn St. has “come to an end.” Although the post states that the future of Tru Coffee as a whole remains uncertain, the shop is “pausing to rest and reflect.”
