Authorities identify pedestrian killed along Highway 29
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle along Highway 29 near Middletown last week. Susan Alice Johnson-Cline, 57, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 6:15 p.m. Friday on southbound Highway 29, south of Central Park Road, as Lake County News has reported.
Fatal Autopilot Incident in Lake County Raises Safety and Ethical Concerns for Autonomous Vehicles
On December 1, 2023, Lake County was the scene of a devastating incident involving a Tesla Model S operating on Autopilot. A female pedestrian was fatally struck while walking along SR-29, south of Central Park Road at around 6:18 PM. The California Highway Patrol's Clearlake Office is investigating, with early suggestions pointing to the involvement of alcohol on the part of the pedestrian. Clearlake woman dies after being struck by vehicle
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A Clearlake woman died Friday evening after she was hit by a vehicle while walking along Highway 29 near Middletown. The California Highway Patrol’s Clear Lake Area office did not release the name of the woman, which also was not available from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Trailer Destroyed in Fire at Old Concrete Plant in Cloverdale
Arson may be the cause of a fire that destroyed a single-wide trailer in Cloverdale. The fire was reported early Sunday morning coming from the former concrete plant on Berti Lane. Firefighters arrived and saw a trailer was engulfed in flames. They put it out in about 10 minutes but the trailer, which was a former office building, had collapsed. No injuries were reported. Cloverdale Fire Protection District Captain Roger Fletcher suspects arson because there was no gas or electricity operating on the plant, which had been shut down about 15 years ago. He also noted multiple holes in the fence around the property. The investigation is ongoing.
