CHP Near Ukiah Arrest Three Santa Rosa Men for Transporting Large Amount of Weed
Three Santa Rosa men have been arrested near Ukiah after CHP found about 50 pounds of illegal cannabis in their SUV. On the night of September 24th, a CHP officer saw a Hummer swerve over a solid white line on Highway 101 just north of North State Street. They pulled the vehicle over and noticed the driver, Jose Bribiessca-Armenta, showed signs of intoxication. Officers searched the Hummer and found the large amount of cannabis without the required licensing and paperwork. Armenta along with his two passengers, Jorge Lozano-Casillas and Anthony Escutia-Martinez, were arrested for transporting and having marijuana to sell without a license and conspiracy. Armenta was also charged with DUI.

WPD: One man found dead, another unresponsive at Willits home Thursday
One man was found dead and another unconscious at a Willits home early Thursday, the Willits Police Department reported. According to the WPD, around 12:35 a.m. Sept. 28, a woman came to the department’s lobby to report that she “went to an associate’s home in Willits and discovered two men unconscious and unresponsive.”
Board rejects proposal to create cannabis prohibition zone
The Board of Supervisors rejected an application for a cannabis prohibition zone just outside of Willits this week, and directed Code Enforcement to focus its attention on illegal cannabis activity in the area. On the same day, the Board received a report of an enhanced code enforcement action in Redwood Valley, which was the result of a similar decision over the summer.

At the City of Ukiah, we understand that we have a unique responsibility to all residents as local government and public servants. We know that it is not enough to prioritize diversity. We must also prioritize equity and inclusion to create a culture where every individual and group is welcomed, respected, and provided the opportunity to participate fully. To ensure ongoing progress in these areas, the Ukiah City Council established an eleven (11) member Diversity and Equity Standing Committee in 2020 and adopted a strategic Equity Action Plan in 2022. The Committee and City staff have been diligently working to implement the goals of this plan.
