The suspect at large in a fatal Point Arena shooting has been identified. Mendocino County Deputies identified Edgar Arteaga Coria of Gualala as the second suspect in the homicide. However, they say Coria has fled Mendocino County. He is 44-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 160-170 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Coria has a tattoo on the left side of his neck and the name “Arteaga” tattooed on the back of his neck. He’s considered armed and dangerous. The other suspect, Antonio Coria Garcia is currently in custody after turning himself in to deputies this past Sunday. They are both suspected of killing Jesus Joel Romero after a fight at a Point Arena bar.

A fugitive who had reportedly eluded law enforcement for 30 years was arrested recently in Ukiah after allegedly driving drunk, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, an officer stopped a vehicle on East Perkins Street at the on-ramp to Highway 101 around 1:35 a.m. Sept. 24 after reportedly observing that the white BMW X6 was “failing to maintain lanes.”

A Lakeport man died after his SUV went down an embankment near a Lake County recreation area. Sixty-four year-old William Sappington was driving alone on a trail in the Cow Mountain Recreation Area Saturday morning when his SUV went off the trail near Scotts Creek Road. The SUV overturned several times and Sappington was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. Sappington died at the scene. CHP are still investigating the cause of the crash but have said that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved.

Two-Vehicle Collision on U.S. 101 Causes Major Injuries. A two-vehicle collision that was reported south of Ukiah on September 23 between a Honda CR-V, a Chevy pickup and a semi pulling a trailer caused major injuries. The crash occurred along Redwood Highway near Hopland around 1:37 a.m., blocking the Russian River bridge. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident reportedly occurred because one of the vehicles blew a tire and crashed into another, causing major injuries.

A father died while kayaking with his son in a cove south of Russian Gulch State Park in Mendocino County. Seventy-year-old Gordon Bruce Spence and his son were kayaking Sunday morning when the vessel was knocked over by a wave. That caused the two to be separated and the son couldn’t get to Spence for 15 minutes due to strong south winds and waves. The son eventually pulled his father to shore where he got a passerby to call for help. Unfortunately, Spence, who had a pre-existing medical condition, could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
