Lake County Music Guide – 2.20.24
I’d like to give a big shout-out to the bands, performers and venues that make my job easier; Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, Still Kick’n, Shufflenuts, Beats Werkin’, Margo and Friends, Soul Circus, Mark Weston Band, Bill Vanderwall, The Riviera Hills Lounge, Smiling Dogs Tasting Room and Brad White Productions. Why? Because they always send me schedules so I can compile a weekly music guide and post it on Facebook. During the Summer, it can take me as much as 7-8 hours to gather all the info I need, type it all out, and then post it, and that’s mostly because I have to look under every rock to get all the info that might be out there. Even the publishers of The Bloom and Visit Kelseyville sometimes feel compelled to ask me where I found out about a certain music event, and I show them those rocks. So, how ‘bout we start a new trend – all performers and venues who want your live music event included in this music guide, please PM me your schedules. I type it all up on Monday, then post it to Facebook on Tuesday – so please get it to me by Sunday. Then rock on, Dudes! Thanks, everybody. Here’s the live music guide for the week of 2/20 through 2/26…
License to Ill: California’s new sick-leave mandate leaves some North Bay employers feeling nauseous
With approximately 130 employees, Healdsburg-based Costeaux French Bakery is considered a small employer. Changes in employment law, and specifically for paid sick leave, have altered the way its president and CEO Will Seppi structures time off for his numerous workers. In 2015, when a California law was implemented granting employees three paid sick days per year, or 24 hours, Seppi transitioned away from the paid time off (PTO) model he had been using, and divided wages into a sick day “bucket” and a vacation day bucket.

Healdsburg residents remain wary after drought lessons despite heavy rain
As the rain continues to fall, one Sonoma County town remembers three years ago when their water supply almost ran dry. The lessons Healdsburg residents learned from the dry times have stuck with them, and as Healdsburg's leading water conservation advocate, Brigette Mansell was out Monday taking video of the storm-swollen Russian River. It's hard to believe that just three years ago, Healdsburg nearly ran out of water.Lake Mendocino, the town's only source of water, was running so low that the state mandated a 40 percent cut in water usage for the whole town."Healdsburg is in a great place with...

Storms to continue through the week
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Lake County and much of California will face more rain through the course of this week thanks to the latest in a continuing series of storms. “While this storm is not expected to be as fierce as the ones earlier in the month, the latest in the train of storms will be dangerous, posing several risks to people and property — including a renewed flood risk and gusty winds for some along the West Coast, and for central and northern California, it can bring severe thunderstorms and even an isolated tornado across parts of Northern and Central California on Monday and even across parts of Southern California on Tuesday. The storm has the potential to once again slow travel and activities, including business activities, in the state,” said AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter.
