Newton Softball Team Wins by Two Over Sussex Tech

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team won 4-2 when they hosted Sussex Tech on Wednesday, April 17.

Catherine Vena went 2-for-4 at bat with two singles and an RBI. Jordyn Young went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and one run scored.

Riley Mills went 1-for-3 at bat with a single and an RBI, while Jaida Long, who also went 1-for-3 had a double.

Melissa Fehr went 1-for-3 had one single. Katie Golder-Ryan went 1-for-2 scored a run for Newton and had a single and an RBI. Bella Deleon scored one run for the Braves.

Long was in the circle for all seven innings. Long mowed down 11 Tech batters and allowed two runs off three hits. She only had two errors and six walks.

The Newton High School softball team moves their overall record to 4-2 and their NJAC-Colonial division record to 4-1 as they host Wallkill Valley at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.
