New Kent man who had hundreds of images of child sexual abuse on computer sentenced to 5 years in prison

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 66-year-old New Kent County man will serve five years in prison in connection to hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse found on his computer.

According to court documents, the FBI identified an IP address used to search for child sexual abuse material in July 2021. This IP address was traced to 66-year-old Vincent Hopson’s home in the Quinton area of New Kent. On Nov. 29, 2021, agents executed a search warrant on that home, seizing several electronic devices.

According to court documents, forensic examination discovered a total of 283 images and 95 videos of child sexual abuse. One of those child sexual abuse files, reportedly downloaded by Hopson about two months before the seizure, was an over 15-minute video involving an adult male and an underage girl.

On Thursday, May 23, Hopson was sentenced to five years in prison for receiving child sexual abuse material, according to the Eastern Division of Virginia’s U.S. Attorney’s Office.
