The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties until 10 p.m. tonight.

Storms are expected to increase in coverage and intensity of the next several hours, according to Escambia Emergency Management. Damaging winds appear probable, with a brief tornado or two possible.

Both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are at an elevated risk for flooding with two to five inches or rain expected. The flood watch will continue through Saturday afternoon.

The greatest chance of flooding will be in Southeast Alabama north of Interstate 65, but flash floods are possible across the entire region.

If the forecast is correct, it will be the third complex of severe storms to impact Northwest Florida over the last week.
