    Heavy rain leaves RI roadways underwater

    SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Heavy rain overnight into Thursday morning left parts of our area underwater, with southern Rhode Island taking the brunt of it.

    A number of roadways had to be closed as a result, and there was also flooding at some recreational areas and businesses.

    BEYOND THE FORECAST: What’s the 2024 hurricane season outlook?

    While the rain has died down, a River Flood Warning remains in effect for the Pawtuxet, Pawcatuck and Wood rivers. The Pawtuxet was expected to crest above 10 inches Thursday evening.
