    Convicted Rankin Co. 'Goon Squad' officers held in out-of-state federal prisons. See where

    Six former Rankin County law enforcement officers who were connected to the "Goon Squad" were moved to federal prisons that are not in Mississippi.

    The former officers are Hunter Elward, Jeffrey Middleton, Daniel Opdyke, Christian Dedmon, Brett McAlpin and Joshua Hartfield. The six men pleaded guilty to federal charges and state charges for their involvement in the torture and abuse of Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker.

    The ex-officers were sentenced to between 10 and 40 years in federal prison.

    All but Hartfield served with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. Hartfield served with the city of Richland.

    As of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the following locations were where each officer has been housed based on the Federal Bureau of Prisons' records:

    • McAlpin is housed at the Federal Correctional Institution McDowell in West Virgina.
    • Elward is housed at the Federal Correctional Institution Lewisburg in Pennsylvania.
    • Dedmon is housed at the Federal Correctional Institution Hazelton in West Virgina.
    • Middleton, Hartfield and Opdyke are housed at the Federal Transfer Center Oklahoma City in Oklahoma. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Oklahoma facility houses nearly 1,430 inmates on a short-term basis until inmates are sent to prisons across the country.
