RAVENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – The case of a Warren man who was indicted late last year by a Portage County grand jury on several charges surrounding attempted sexual conduct with a minor and aggravated robbery is making its way through the court system.

Nicholas Cope was indicted in November 2023 on charges of aggravated robbery, assault, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, attempted unlawful conduct and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

According to the indictment, Cope is accused of trying to take a Portage County deputy’s weapon and inflict harm, attempting to engage in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old victim and presenting material to juveniles that was obscene or harmful.

The case is set for a pretrial hearing June 12.

Bond in the case was set at $750,000 in December 2023. A motion to modify the bond was filed that same month to $10,000 but was denied at that time so the victim could be notified. No further bond information is in online court records.

In January 2024 a mental health evaluation was ordered.

In November of 2023, Cope faced charges in Trumbull County of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and violating a temporary protection order but those charges were not billed by a grand jury.
