Henrico County Fire is currently accepting applications for its January 2025 firefighter recruit school and is offering a starting salary of nearly $62,000. The application period is open now through July 1; applicants can review the process online.

“If you’re called to public service and want to make a positive impact in the community, I invite you to see what Henrico Fire is all about,” said Fire Chief Jackson Baynard, who’s been with the division for more than two decades. “Our members provide best-in-class care and make a difference every day.”

According to agency officials, recruits will be paid while they are in training and will be expected to work 10 days a month once they graduate.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, either have a Virginia driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. They also must pass an online application, a written test, a physical abilities test, and a background check.
