SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Tuesday will be a Weather Impact Day due to a threat of a few severe thunderstorms and strong winds in the afternoon and evening.

The day will start overcast with some rain falling for some morning drivers.

As temperatures warm from the south, storms will begin to form and should be widely scattered in coverage.

A few storms may gain enough strength to become severe with the main threat being damaging straight-line winds and hail up to the size of quarters.

Those who live south of I-85 should be on the lookout for potential problems beginning around 3 p.m. and lasting through around 8 p.m.

The higher risk for any tornadoes will be along the South Carolina coast.

7NEWS Chief Meteorologist Christy Henderson said not everyone will get severe storms, but there is a chance for the area, so everyone should be expecting at least some activity in the area.
