WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — The problems in the Wichita County computer network appear to be in the process of being fixed, and department heads report systems and access have been returning.

Still no official word on what caused the crash early this week.

District Clerk Leslee Mannon told us their computers and systems are back up, but they are still limited in some functions. They were gaining access as the day progressed.

She said that during the time it was down, her staff was working old school—over-the-counter filing versus electronic methods—and they were doing their best to get caught up as soon as possible.

They appreciate the public’s patience as they work through the backlog.

County Judge Jim Johnson, in an email outside the system yesterday, stated that the county was taking prompt action to secure the network and working with leading independent cybersecurity experts in the restoration process.

He said they are investigating and working to determine the scope of the incident.
