    News of public record: Tuscarawas County restaurant inspections

    The following are restaurant inspections with critical violations, as conducted by the Tuscarawas County Health Department from April 30 to May 3.

    April 30

    Rosalie's Restaurant, 989 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg. Written procedures and plans are not maintained and implemented. Improper use of time as a public health control (four hours) for the cooled-through ice food in the kitchen.

    Gionino's Pizzeria of Dover, 118 N. Wooster Ave., Dover. Observed a sealed can of mushrooms with large dents around the seal.

    Certified Oil Co. #79, 146 E. Canal St., Newcomerstown. Observed several breakfast sandwiches that had no date markings on them. The person in charge noted that all sandwiches had been put out the day prior, but the facility had run out of stickers. An employee immediately identified packages to identify the date by which the sandwiches needed to be sold, discarded, or consumed.

    May 1

    Taco Bell, 5275 E. State Road, Newcomerstown. Follow-up inspection. Observed live ants in the dining area of the facility.

    Speedway #6241, 11099 Ohio 212, Bolivar. Time and temperature controlled for safety foods not being cold-held at the proper temperature in the walk-in cooler. Improper storage of chemical materials above the single-use articles.

    May 2

    Mr. Hibachi Japanese Grill, 111 W. Third St., Dover. Food employees did not remove gloves and wash hands when necessary. After engaging in food preparation, the food employee did not remove gloves and wash hands before cleaning food equipment and utensils at the three-compartment sink. In addition, the food employee did not wash hands after eating in the food preparation area. Observed food-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils not sanitized after cleaning. Observed food employees using food equipment and utensils immediately after washing without sanitizing. The degreaser is stored in an unlabeled working container. Another unknown cleaner or sanitizer was stored in a spray bottle. Staff were unable to identify the cleaner/sanitizer.

    May 3

    Los Venados Mexican Restaurant, 162 Main St., Zoar. Food employees did not wash their hands when necessary. Food employees did not wash their hands after consuming food, or after wiping/touching their face. In the bar area, the handwashing sink was not accessible. Various equipment and utensils had been stored in the handwashing sink, and a container of food had been placed over the handwashing sink.
