CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A Cumberland County Chipotle was evacuated earlier this week after a chemical spill.

Multiple emergency crews, including the Cumberland County Special Hazards Operations Team (SHOT), were dispatched for a chemical spill inside the restaurant, New Kingstown Fire Company said in a news release.

Restaurant employees had already evacuated by the time crews arrived, the fire company said, and workers reported a cleaning chemical in the kitchen had spilled.

Crews discovered there was a leak coming from a one-gallon jug of utensil cleaner, and others were contaminated but not leaking, the company said. The fire company noted that the main ingredient in the cleaner is bleach.

The jugs were then removed from the restaurant and put outside the building, and when the hazmat team arrived, they handled the cleanup. No one was reportedly injured.
