A rain-soaked lead-in to the weekend awaits Bucks County and South Jersey, as rain and possible thunderstorms are on track for Thursday and Friday.

The rain and cloud cover will limit temperatures during the four-day stretch, beginning on Thursday, May 9.

If you’re getting ready to head out for the day or just want to know what to expect, here’s a look at the forecast from the National Weather Service.

What’s the weather in Bucks County?

Rain started to develop overnight Wednesday, leading to a daylong threat of rain, and possible thunderstorms on Thursday, said Ray Martin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"It was warm on Wednesday, but it won't stay that way. We have a front sweeping down through the area, with a much cooler pattern behind it," Martin said. "Thursday will be much cloudier, with showers especially in the afternoon.

"Temperatures will be about 15 degrees cooler than Wednesday, and should only reach the mid 70s."

What’s the weather in South Jersey?

Conditions will be similar in South Jersey on Thursday, with rain expected throughout the day and temperatures reaching the low to mid 70s.

The hazardous weather outlook for South Jersey will remain in effect at least through Tuesday of next week, however.

The outlook is caused by the minor threat of coastal flooding along the Delaware River banks, Martin said.

"The main concern is coastal flooding in South Jersey, given the easterly flow of the tide and the way the moon is lining up," Martin said. "We don't expect any flooding to be too severe."

The mixed-bag weather returns on Sunday, when the random shower will interrupt an otherwise partly sunny day. Temperatures should reach the mid 60s on Sunday in Bucks County.

South Jersey residents will need to pack an umbrella on Thursday and Friday as well.

Showers will linger all day on Thursday, as the weather service's 7-day outlook for South Jersey calls for a high of 71 degrees.
