    Deadline approaching to apply for FEMA disaster relief

    (WPRI) — Rhode Islanders’ last day to apply for disaster relief from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is approaching.

    FEMA’s disaster declarations following severe storms in December 2023 and January 2024 were approved by President Joe Biden on March 21, giving households impacted by flooding and property damage two months to apply for assistance from the federal government.

    If your home or business in Kent County, Providence County, or Washington County was adversely affected by the extreme weather during either disaster, you have until Monday, May 20, to apply at DisasterAssistance.gov .

    The U.S. Small Business Administration is also offering low-interest disaster loans to businesses, renters, homeowners, and organizations in Kent, Providence, and Washington counties impacted by the storms. Learn more about how to apply at SBA.gov .
