SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane County Board of Commissioners has approved how opioid settlement funds will be spent to help fight the opioid crisis locally.

According to the county, $7.2 million will go to four strategic investments outlined by Spokane County Regional Behavioral Health.

$5.2 million will go to expanding the current Spokane Regional Crisis Stabilization Center to provide more crisis care, withdrawal/detox care, and other services.

$1.2 million will go to direct treatment services to improve access to behavioral health services, care and other treatments.

$600,000 will go to long-term housing and treatment support services for parents and caregivers with infants with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.

$200,000 will be distributed annually to ongoing evaluation of other gaps and needs.

The Opioid Settlement Funds from lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies and supply chains will result in more than $17 million to Spokane County through 2038.
