GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A round of ammunition was found in the bus loop outside of Greensville County High School Tuesday morning, after which the school was placed on lockdown.

According to a message shared to social media at 12:17 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 by a Greensville County Public Schools spokesperson, teaching and learning activities will continue while the lockdown is in place.

“Students and staff will remain in their classrooms with the doors locked,” the announcement continues.

The spokesperson said that Greensville Elementary School and E. W. Wyatt Middle School have also been placed on a stage 1 lockdown, meaning that no movement is allowed outside at both campuses.

The spokesperson added that school leaders do not believe there to be an active threat, and that this action comes “out of an abundance of caution.”
