16-year-old girl found safe, 16-year-old boy still missing

Update, May 8th, 2024, 10:19 a.m. – Per the RCSO, Zahira Shaw has been located and is safe.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help to locate 2 missing teens.

16-year-old Zahira Shaw was last seen on April 30th, on the 400 block of Boy Scout Road.

She was last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt, black pants, and black crocs.

16-year-old Derrick Gaines Jr. was last seen April 24th, on the 3500 block of Jack Kelly Road.

He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, and blue Jordan sneakers.

Authorities do not believe these two teens are together. If you have any information on their whereabouts, contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
