NEWARK, NJ — A countywide crackdown on outstanding criminal warrants has led to the arrest of 43 fugitives facing a range of other felony charges. Two were sought for alleged murders. Irvington, one of Essex county’s largest cities, has a new affordable housing option that comes courtesy of a local developer that has a few other projects in the pipeline. Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss joined developer Adenah Bayoh and The NRP Group for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of a 56-unit affordable apartment community at 722 Chancellor Avenue. Essex County Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting of Former Federal Informant
NEWARK, NJ – Kalil Bryant, a 40-year-old man from East Orange, NJ, admitted to attempting to kill a former federal informant by shooting him, as announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger on Wednesday. In a court appearance before U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez, Bryant pleaded guilty to two counts of an indictment for possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and retaliating against a witness, victim, or informant. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 24, 2019, when Bryant shot the victim in retaliation for the victim’s cooperation with the FBI.
