HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM)– Hanover Borough Police have announced that charges of unsworn falsification to authorities and false reports to law enforcement are pending against a 63-year-old Hanover man who they say falsely reported a robbery over the weekend.

The department says they received a false report of of “strong-armed robbery” that occurred between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on the 100 block of Carlisle Street on Saturday, May 4.

Police say after further investigation, they determined that the robbery did not occur.

According to police, the report falsely stated that three suspects were involved, and that one suspect reportedly offered the alleged victim a ride and when they entered the vehicle, a handgun was brandished by the suspect.
