SEMCA Michigan Works! is participating in the inaugural Youth Apprenticeship (YA) Week, beginning today and running through May 11.

The program seeks to raise awareness of the vital role Youth Apprenticeships play in creating opportunities for young individuals across southeast Michigan and beyond. Other partners include Henry Ford College and Monroe Community College.

YA programs enable employers to cultivate their future workforce while offering career seekers pathways to rewarding careers and opportunities for career advancement. They also offer avenues for earning college credits and industry-recognized certifications, preparing participants for successful futures in a variety of fields.

SEMCA Michigan Works! says it’s committed to ensuring all qualified individuals, including women, people of color, rural communities, justice-involved individuals, and individuals with disabilities, have access to apprenticeship opportunities and can contribute to America’s industries.

By investing in YA programs, SEMCA Michigan Works! states it is addressing workforce needs such as infrastructure development, supply chain management, clean energy initiatives, cybersecurity, and the care economy.
