ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Homeowners in Winnebago County will begin receiving their property tax bills soon.

On Friday, Winnebago County Treasurer Susan Goral announced that property tax bills for the year 2023 are being printed and will be sent out beginning May 10th.

The tax payments due are divided into two installments, one due June 14th and another on September 6th, 2024.

Some homeowners’ property tax bills are paid by their mortgage company through an escrow account.

Find your new property tax amount due here .

Tax payments can be made at the Winnebago County Treasurer’s Office, by mail, or online at the County Treasurer’s website .  Payments can also be made at many local banks and credit unions after the bill has been received.

Failure to receive the tax bill does not void the tax or prevent the addition of penalties and cost if they become delinquent.  The penalty for late payment is 1.5% per month.
