FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Fayette County Prosecuting Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., has announced the sentencing of three individuals for drug-related felony offenses.

According to Ciliberti, on May 2, 2024, Christopher M. Carver, Demetran “D.D.” Gray, and Michael L. Grimmett were convicted and sentenced to prison by Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr., following a two-day jury trial that concluded on March 6, 2024.

Carver, Gray, and Grimmett, aged 49, 45, and 44 respectively, were found guilty of various felony charges, including conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

The convictions stem from an incident that occurred on January 21, 2023, when a member of the Fayetteville Police Department conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle traveling without illuminated taillights or registration lights on U.S. Route 19.

Christopher M. Carver was identified as the driver of the vehicle.

During the traffic stop, Carver was unable to provide a valid driver’s license, registration, or proof of insurance. Further investigation revealed that Carver was in possession of drug paraphernalia and admitted to having drugs in the vehicle.

Accompanying Carver were passengers Demetran “D.D.” Gray and Michael L. Grimmett. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug-related paraphernalia and substances, resulting in the arrest of all three individuals.

Following their conviction, Carver and Gray, who had previous felony convictions, were sentenced to forty years in prison for conspiracy and additional time for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Their sentences were ordered to be served consecutively, with eligibility for parole after eleven years. Grimmett, with minimal prior criminal history, received a lesser sentence of one year in jail for conspiracy and one to fifteen years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Judge Blake ordered Grimmett’s sentences to be served concurrently and referred him to a substance use disorder treatment program.

The investigation was conducted by the Fayetteville Police Department, with Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., leading the prosecution.
