Trout Run, Pa. — Rider Park in Lycoming County is set to undergo over $500,000 in improvements, thanks to funding from the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.

Park improvements will begin in early summer and take roughly six weeks to complete.

The FCFP received a grant from the DCNR as well as contributions from Lycoming County Act 13 Legacy Funds and private donors to support the project.

The park changes will include an expanded parking area, a one-way traffic loop for larger vehicles, a picnic pavilion, rain gardens, an upgraded information kiosk, and a new park entrance with stone pillars.

Limited closures during construction will be announced on FCFP's social media and website.

The improvements aim to honor the legacy of Thomas Rider, who gifted the park to the community with the goal of promoting outdoor recreation, reflection, and education.

The project aligns with FCFP's long-term vision to enhance the Rider Park experience. FCFP Chief Financial Officer Steve Simms expressed excitement about the project and gratitude towards the DCNR, Lycoming County Commissioners, and donors for their support.

Rider Park, owned and operated by FCFP, offers 10 miles of scenic trails through woodlands and meadows for activities such as hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing.
