    Suicide prevention training session offered

An in-person training session on suicide prevention will take place Thursday, May 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes in Baxter.

This training day is free and includes lunch, but registration is required as attendance is limited.

Registration will close Friday, May 3.

Titled “Northern MN Suicide Prevention Training – Moving Upstream,” this training aims to provide tangible strategies for suicide prevention and mental health promotion for attendees and the populations they serve.

The event targets various professionals and community members interested in enhancing suicide prevention and mental well-being efforts.

Speakers will cover topics including the Age Friendly Movement’s relation to mental wellness, replicable community initiatives supporting mental well-being in the aging population, and the Minnesota Senior LinkAge Line’s role in providing support related to mental health and well-being for older adults.

One highlighted presentation will focus on “LivinConnected,” a mental health support platform utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) developed by the LIVIN Foundation, a Minnesota-based non-profit. The platform, featuring an AI avatar named ‘Hope,’ assists individuals in finding mental health support options.

The training is sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Health Suicide Prevention Regional Coordination Grant Fund.
