DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Clark County commuters and residents may have seen and heard first responders at the Clark County Fairgrounds yesterday.

On Wednesday, May 1, the Clark County Emergency Management Agency held a “full-scale exercise.”

“During this time, residents may observe emergency response drills and simulations designed to mimic real-life scenarios,” said Clark County EMA ahead of the planned training event.

Increased police presence expected in Miami Township

The exercise involved a simulation of a hazardous waste spill and required the pre-planned assistance of the local fire department as well as hazmat crews.

Taking place around the window of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., individuals living and traveling around the area may have experienced different sounds, seen smoke and even the emergency vehicles.

This form of training is an annual experience according to the Clark County EMA.
