St. Clair County Technical Education Center was the recipient of a donation from the LaFontaine Ford St. Clair Car Dealership.

LaFontaine donated a 2015 Ford Fiesta to be used by the TEC Automotive Technology and Collision Repair programs. Students in these programs will have the opportunity to have hands-on learning experiences that will prepare them for careers in the automotive industry.

"This donation from LaFontaine will allow TEC students to learn hands-on about the latest technology in today's vehicles," Lesley Murphy, TEC principal, said in a press release. "Having community partners like LaFontaine is integral in continuing to grow our county's future workforce."

Murphy also said that TEC thanks the team at LaFontaine for making valuable investments in the education and future success of aspiring young automotive professionals.

The car was unveiled at a presentation at TEC on April 23. Representatives from LaFontaine, educators and students gathered to celebrate the partnership and donation. LaFontaine representatives remained onsite to talk with students and share insights about careers in the automotive industry.

The Ford Fiesta will be added to TEC's automotive and collision repair programs, providing students with tools, resources and experiences to help them in their future careers.
