Cambria County receives $1.2 million for school safety

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — School districts and nonpublic schools in Cambria County were awarded $1.2 million through the School Safety Grants award.

The grants are from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to address school violence and improve school safety and security. The following schools listed below received grants.

  • Blacklick Valley School District — $137,779
  • Central Cambria School District — $154,756
  • Conemaugh Valley School District — 138,918
  • Ferndale School District — $137,951
  • Forest Hills School District — $156,669
  • Greater Johnstown Career and Technical Center — $70,000
  • Greater Johnstown School District — $177,354
  • Westmont Hilltop School District — $153,965
  • Bishop Carroll Catholic High School — $39,222
  • Bishop McCort Catholic High School — $75,000
  • Holy Name School — $50,000

The funds will advance the goal of ensuring that all Pennsylvania students can learn in safe, healthy school environments by helping school entities address basic safety needs. The grants awarded are from a $155 million school safety grants program package for 2023-24.
