What to do with your worn-out electronic equipment? Sedgwick County Environmental Resources Director Susan Erlenwein tells KNSS News e-waste collection recycled 185-thouasand pounds of waste after an event last week. The operation is underway again this week.

Information stored on recycled device hard drives will be totally destroyed.  Erlenwein says the company Sedgwick County is partnering with for e-waste collection is a "zero-waste recycler," which is important because e-waste contains valuable materials.  Plus recycling it keeps potentially toxic material from polluting the environment.

The County's e-waste collection is runs through Saturday, 9 am to 2 pm, at the county's West Yard near 47th Street south and West Street.
