KCC schedules June public hearings on Kansas Gas Service rate increase

The Kansas Corporation Commission has scheduled two public hearings in June to give Kansas Gas Service customers an opportunity to learn more about the company’s recent rate increase request, ask questions, and to make comments before the Commission.

On March 1, Kansas Gas Service filed an application with the KCC requesting a net rate increase in base rates of $58.1 million. If approved, the average residential bill will increase by over 10% approximately $6.71 a month for customers who use less natural gas (73 Mcf or less per year.)  For customers who use more (more than 73 Mcf per year) the increase will be a little over 8% or a monthly increase of approximately $9.48.

Kansas Gas Service provides natural gas service to approximately 648,000 homes and businesses in 360 communities in Kansas. Public hearings will be held in Topeka and Wichita:

Thursday, June 13 at 6:00 p.m. Washburn Institute of Technology Main Conference Center, Building A 5724 SW Huntoon St., Topeka, KS

Monday, June 17 at 6:00 p.m. Wichita State University, Lowe Auditorium Hughes Metropolitan Complex 5014 E 29th St. North, Wichita, KS

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option through Zoom is available to allow remote participants to comment. Those choosing to join through Zoom must register on the KCC’s website by noon the day before the hearing. The hearings will be broadcast live on the KCC’s YouTube channel for viewing only with no registration required.
