CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A person was burned and a shed was damaged in a fire reportedly caused by a grill in a Chesterfield County backyard Thursday evening.

At about 5:43 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS responded to the 3300 block of Fox Chase Drive for report of an outdoor fire.

When they arrived at the scene, crews found that fire from a grill had spread to both an exterior shed and some nearby brush.

The fire was put out within ten minutes, according to fire officials.

One person had minor burns and received treatment from first responders at the scene.

“If you plan on cooking outside as the weather warms up, firefighters want to remind you to make sure you never leave your grill unattended and make sure it, or anything else combustible, is at least 3 feet away from your home,” said fire officials in a Facebook post about this incident.
