GALLIA COUNTY, OH (WOWK) – A former River Valley High School (RVHS) teacher pleaded not guilty to multiple charges , including rape, after an investigation involving former students.

Matthew Huck, a former RVHS teacher and wrestling coach, is facing three charges of 3rd-degree felony for complicity to commit unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one charge of 1st-degree felony for rape. He has at least two alleged victims.

After pleading not guilty of all charges, his bond was set at $250,000 (10% allowed).

If Matthew Huck is convicted on all counts, he could face up to 26 years in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The defense said Huck had been under investigation since June 15, 2022, though the charges are 19-years-old. They also said he had found new employment since losing his high school job.

Huck’s then-wife Michal Paige Huck, who he is accused of helping engage in sexual activity with multiple underaged students, was indicted in August 2023.
