Wyoming East receives Jennings Randolph Award for having at least 85% of eligible students registered to vote

NEW RICHMOND, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming East High School (WEHS) has earned the prestigious Jennings Randolph Award for Civic Engagement for having at least 85% of eligible students registered to vote.

Last week, Secretary of State Mac Warner presented WEHS Principal Mallory Walker and teacher Anthony Dunn with the Award on behalf of the senior class.

State Senator Rollan Roberts joined Secretary Warner in the presentation.

Secretary Warner and Wyoming County Clerk Jewell Aguilar also recognized seniors Logan Perdue and Piper Cook as Honorary Secretaries of State for their effort to help register at least 85% of the school’s eligible students.

Clerk Aguilar was accompanied by Deputy Clerks Savannah Fortner and Samantha Cline.

Wyoming County Board of Education members Richie Walker, Doug Kennedy, and Mike Prichard as well as BOE staff members Della Houck and Keith Stewart represented the county school board at the presentation.
