BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Several high-profile figures at the state and local levels were on-hand at Woodrow Wilson High School on Friday as Governor Jim Justice presented a $2 million award for the replacement of a water line.

As Chairman of the West Virginia School Building Authority, Governor Justice effectively led a vote in April for the approval of a $149,851,553 award to counties across the state for the Fiscal Year of 2024.

The Governor joined Woodrow Wilson students and staff on Friday to issue $2 million in funds for repairs as part of that award.

“This project is really important to Raleigh County Schools, and I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to the School Building Authority and the governor for doing that,” said Raleigh County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Serena Starcher, who was also on-hand for the event.

Governor Justice was joined by his faithful sidekick, Babydog, who received an enthusiastic reception from those in attendance.

Once they were situated on-stage, Governor Justice regaled those in attendance with tales from his childhood in Raleigh County and spoke of the positive impact the $2 million award stands to have on Woodrow Wilson High.

“You’re getting your water line replaced with a couple million,” declared Governor Justice. “It will absolutely kick start. A lot of goodness right here, Woodrow Wilson.”

The Governor was joined onstage for the presentation of the check by House of Delegates member and Gubernatorial candidate, Moore Capito , who recently received an endorsement from the U.S. Senate candidate.

Afterwards, both Governor Justice and Babydog remained onstage for some time as Woodrow students got up close and personal with Babydog.

Governor Justice will be back in Raleigh County next week along with Delegate Moore Capito for a ribbon cutting event at WVU Tech.
