Randall Cobb says Aaron Rodgers is ‘himself again’ after Jets trade

Randall Cobb believes a change of scenery has done wonders for his pal, new Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

When speaking to Kay Adams on Friday from Churchill Downs, the former Packers receiver — who agreed to a one-year deal with the Jets this week following a second stint in Green Bay — opened up about seeing a “reenergized” Rodgers at 1 Jets Drive.

“I think this whole change of scenery has been great for him, it’s reenergized him,” the 32-year-old Cobb said on “Up & Adams.”

“I went up to the facility a couple of days ago to sign and just to see him happy and being himself, and the old Aaron Rodgers that I remember, he’s himself again. I look forward to seeing him continue to grow and find himself.”

Rodgers spent the past 18 seasons in Green Bay before the Jets made the blockbuster trade last month to send the four-time league MVP to New York.

Prior to the highly anticipated move, however, there had been rumors of discord between Rodgers and the Packers front office, resulting in an offseason saga of “he said, they said” over communication about the organization’s plans .

Despite the drama, Rodgers, 39, has continued to express gratitude for the Packers and the fans.

“You made every run out of the tunnel special, every home game magical, and it was my honor to be your QB,” the quarterback wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post last month.

As Rodgers now embarks on his next chapter in New York, he’s still “pinching” himself over what’s been a whirlwind few weeks.

“I’m just pinching myself a lot of days. I can’t believe it’s real sometimes. It’s been a dream for sure just to be here. I definitely feel energized to be in the building,” Rodgers said this week during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Though this season will be different for Rodgers, he’s going to be surrounded by a few familiar faces on the Jets.

In addition to Cobb, who played in Green Bay from 2011-18 before returning in 2021, Rodgers will be throwing to ex-Packers receiver Allen Lazard, who agreed to a four-year deal with the team in March.

The group will also be coached by former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who was hired by the Jets in January to fill the same role.

This weekend, though, will serve as something of a Packers reunion as Rodgers, Cobb, and Lazard are at the Kentucky Derby with some of their former teammates, including ex-Green Bay receiver Davante Adams and current Packers tackle David Bakhtiari.
